This was the view that greeted me as I paused to catch my breath when climbing this hill. The trees seemed a perfect frame for the river Moshi which is one of the tributaries of Pune’s Mutha River. It has a dam at Varasgaon and this is the backwater area.
We walked up at the start of June, when the city was facing a severe water crisis. The south westerlies seemed to be bringing in hoards of clouds which filled the entire sky.
For a change, the view kept me away from trying to identify the trees… Also they were on the slope and I was not keen on going too close to them. They are likely to be Jamun or Ain, two species which were common in that area.

The way you framed the shot is very interesting! The aridity of the place is visible. Hope the rains have brought some much-needed relief to the parched soil and the trees.
Thanks Esha. Indeed, the rains have helped refill the dams. About 20 days ago, the city was desperately crying for rain and now when the heavens have opened up, people are complaining of the traffic and damaged roads 🙁 Sometimes human reactions are inexplicable!!

I love that shot and that dried up tributary is a reminder of what happens when nature casts a dry spell.

It is indeed a lovely view. The trees form the perfect frame on the sides.
We recently sold a plot of land that we had for years at Varasgaon. I didn't know it was so beautiful nor so accessible from Pune a city that I visit at least four times a year! The trees look gorgeous as they frame the water body.

@bellybytes Varasgaon is about an hours travel by road from Pune and the road is fairly good. This view is from a hill overlooking the backwaters of this dam. Do visit this area just to see the changes there! Thanks for stopping by Sunita! Always happy to read your thoughts 🙂
